Stary Browar
Both work of art and shopping centre
Stary Browar was founded by Grażyna Kulczyk in 2003. She wanted to create a place dedicated to art and business according to the 50:50 rule.
Stary Browar in Poznań was sold for over EUR 290 million. The shopping center consists of 130 m2 and the underground car park offers space for over one thousand cars.
The passages of the renovated complex were designed by Ryszard Kaj, a Polish graphic artist, painter and set designer.
The building was designed on the basis of a post-industrial monument.
Meeting place:
It is a place very popular with young Poznań people. We come here very often after school because Stary Browar is a shopping mall with beautiful architecture. It has nearly 200 shops, restaurants and cafes, atmospheric event interiors, 8 cinema halls, a music club – all in one place in the very center of Poznań. Next to Stary Browar there is a large park, where every year during the summer holidays music festivals of our favorite Polish singers, such as Sanah, Kwiat Jabłoni, Igor Herbut, attract a lot of young people. Stary Browar is located at the end of ul. Półwiejska, the most popular street in Poznań. Lots of young people spend their time with their friends here at restaurants, shops, clubs and cafes with Polish dishes and snacks, such as “Pierożak” or “Butter donut”.
Artistic showpiece of Poznań and it’s prizes:
-National Geographic Traveler in 2012 awarded Stary Browar as the winner of the plebiscite of 7 New Wonders of Poland.
-The International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) award for the Best Shopping Center in the World in the category of medium-sized shopping centers.
The shopping centre was a very nice place. We really liked that there were many shops where you could spend your time. Especially the aspect of variety, of shops, was quite impressive. If we could go there again, we would take the opportunity to spend more time there.
